چکیده
NViral inifectionis may ox7erload the heart by alterinig pulmonary or systemic vascular resistance, mav iniduce conigeniital malformations, or may invade the mature heart muscle and provoke acute anid possibly chlronic myocarditis. The nature of the associationi of myocarditis vith kniowvn viral infections anid the pathophysiologic effects of myocardial involvenmeit are analyzed. Altlhough viral myocarditis of clinical signiificanice is relatively rare, recelnt advanices in diagnosis and therapy warrant greater dissemination and application of existing knowlelge as xvell as further clinical inivestigation.
